About The Show

An Animated Sketch Comedy That Embraces the Absurd

We're Going Dumber is an animated sketch comedy series built around one simple idea: life is already absurd, so why pretend otherwise?

Blending naturalistic, fly-on-the-wall humor with unexpected twists, the show captures the bizarre moments, awkward interactions, and ridiculous observations that make everyday life surprisingly funny. Whether it's a conversation between friends, a stranger on the subway, or a situation that spirals completely out of control, each sketch is designed to deliver a laugh you didn’t see coming.

In a television landscape dominated by serialized storytelling and familiar formulas, We're Going Dumber leans into the freedom of sketch comedy. Every episode introduces new characters, new worlds, and new surprises, creating a viewing experience that feels fresh, fast-paced, and unpredictable.

Season One features more than 15 original sketches, over 20 voice actors, and an original soundtrack complete with a theme song, musical transitions, and custom endings that enhance the show’s unique comedic rhythm.

At its core, We're Going Dumber is a celebration of creative freedom, absurd humor, and the strange reality we all share.

Because sometimes the funniest thing in the world is watching everything go completely off the rails.

The Process of Making

We’re Going Dumber

Step 1: The Script

The Foundation to the show. All the stories, jokes, settings, and characters are written and developed in this stage. Writer and Show Creator Tom O’Shea has developed 5 volumes of sketches that have been recorded for the show and continues to develop more along with a team of co-writers.

Step 2: Casting

A show wouldn’t be successful without a good cast and with over 15 sketches for the first season, we needed a expansive cast of characters. From professional actors to common people interested in voice acting, We’re Going Dumber gathered a full list of over 20 hilarious cast members to bring these characters to life.

Step 3: Recording Audio & Music

We set up our best mics and partnered with Collective Visions Productionsto produce all the audio assets needed to bring the show to life. This included all the voice acting, custom theme music, background music, foley, and more. If you hear it on the show, Collective Visions worked on it.

Step 4: Editing Audio

This is when we start building the foundation of each episode. We meticulously comb through all the takes of each sketch and only the best make the cut. After each sketch is edited, the organization of each episode begins taking place. We line up each sketch with transitions, music, and sound effects.

Step 5: Concept Art

This is one of he most exciting parts of the production process. We’re Going Dumber’s lead artist Christopher Perez (Master Chef, Friends, Danny Elfman) puts his imagination to work and his pencil to paper to create a new world with each sketch. It is by far one of the most demanding jobs on the show but also one of the most rewarding. This is when the characters and environments begin to form and the whole team gets to start imagining the finished product.

Step 6: Storyboarding

An essential step towards production. This determines which art assets are needed in the next stage of production. We begin with creating a shot by shot breakdown with locations, character positions, backgrounds, gags, and more. If needed, the art department with create rough sketches to block out the scene through a storyboarding process. Finally a compiled list of art assets will be developed in order of importance for the next stage of production.

Step 7: Drawing Assets

One of the most meticulous and challenging parts of making the show. After receiving the list of necessary art assets, lead artist Christopher Perez completes hundreds of drawings by hand to create all the assets needed for each character and background. This includes full body drawings, heads, eyes, mouth shapes, arms, hands, and so much more. It is an incredibly detail oriented job but the show wouldn’t be able to move forward without it.

Step 8: Coloring

After receiving all the assets needed for animation, We’re Going Dumber’s lead colorist, Angel Mendoza, begins the process of assigning colors to each drawing. Consistency and a deep understanding of color theory is essential to creating the depth we strive for in the finished product.

Step 9: Animation

The final piece of the production puzzle. Its taken all the previous steps and months of work to get to this point in time. The art team has compiled all of the final assets to be digitally rendered and imported into animation software. This is where art director Mark Van Ee (Rick & Morty, The Simpsons) gets to work framing and animating each character in the show. Body and lip movement are synced with the edited audio and a final product is born from countless hours of work completed by the whole team.

Step 10: Release

So the episode is done but the work isn’t finished. We need your help getting the show out to the world. Sharing it with your friends and family helps more than you could imagine.
