Meet the Creator

Tom O’Shea

Writer | Director | Co-Showrunner | Developer

Tom O'Shea is the creator and writer of We're Going Dumber. An independent filmmaker and award-winning screenwriter originally from New York, Tom graduated from Cornell University in 2021 before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film.

His first feature screenplay, The Clover Mites, earned recognition with a podium finish at the Independent Filmmaker's Showcase in 2023, while his experiences living in Venice Beach inspired his novella The Strays of Washington Square. Along the way, Tom has worked across independent film productions, studied acting at Speiser Sturges, and continued developing his voice as both a writer and filmmaker.

Rather than waiting for opportunities, Tom committed himself to creating them. He wrote, produced, and collaborated on independent films, continually refining his craft through hands-on experience. During that time, he began writing a collection of comedy sketches simply for the joy of exploring ideas without limits. Those sketches quickly grew into something much larger.

The result is We're Going Dumber—an animated sketch comedy series born from the belief that life is often at its funniest when it embraces the absurd. Combining sharp observations with unpredictable humor, the show reflects Tom's passion for original storytelling and his commitment to creating comedy that feels fresh, surprising, and unapologetically weird.
